Family reunification rules – the 11b declaration
If you are a Danish or Nordic citizen intending to marry someone from outside the EU, it is essential to familiarize yourself with the family reunification rules outlined in the Danish Aliens Act prior to marriage.
If only one of you is a Danish/Nordic citizen or has a permanent residence permit, you cannot get married in Denmark without both of you having provided a declaration concerning knowledge of the rules on family reunification in the Danish Aliens Act. This is done by signing an 11B declaration.
By signing the 11b declaration, you declare that you have familiarized yourself with the family reunification rules in the Danish Aliens Act. However, this does not mean you forfeit your right to apply for family reunification as a result of the marriage.
Please note that the rules regarding the 11b declaration do not apply if you are an EU citizen, due to EU regulations on free movement.
Go to the 11b declaration. Read the (Danish language) guidance on entering into a marriage before signing the 11b declaration.
