When the Agency of Family Law makes a decision, we explain in the decision how you can appeal.
You must send your appeal to us no later than four weeks after receiving the decision. Once we receive your appeal, we will forward it to the Family Court. Under special circumstances, the Family Court may process an appeal even if it was submitted late.
The Agency of Family Law may also reopen the case if:
A registered or noted agreement cannot be brought before the Family Court, but the Agency of Family Law may reopen the case instead.
A decision on access to documents under the Public Administration Act or the Access to Public Administration Files Act cannot be brought before the Family Court. However, the Agency of Family Law must reopen the processing of any request for access to documents.
